OUR STORY

Ghee Collection was born from a personal journey of curiosity, discovery, and transformation.

For over twenty years, I believed my hair could never grow long. It remained consistently short, and I assumed it was simply genetics. Over time, curiosity led me to question whether something could change if I approached my hair differently.

In 2015, I made the decision to cut my relaxed hair and grow out my natural hair. Even though I had spoken to my mother about it, I still felt a little uncertain because I had never truly seen my natural hair texture before. Before taking that step, I spoke with my husband about it, and he encouraged me to go ahead with the haircut. His encouragement gave me the confidence to finally take that step and start the journey.

Cutting my hair allowed me to experience my natural hair for the first time and begin learning how to care for it properly. Through research and observation, I started to understand that healthy hair care requires both the right products and the right techniques.

I began incorporating products such as leave-in conditioners, deep conditioners, protein treatments, and gentle cleansers into my routine. I also learned that ingredients that provide moisture, conditioning, and slip help make detangling easier and reduce breakage during combing. At the same time, I became more intentional about how I handled my hair, detangling carefully and minimizing unnecessary breakage.

Along the way, however, I also experienced some challenges while trying different products. Sometimes I would purchase a product that did not provide the level of slip my hair needed for comfortable detangling. Other times, I would find products that worked well but contained protein, and my hair is sensitive to protein, something I had discovered after having a very unpleasant experience with it in the past. These small but frequent frustrations made it difficult to find products that I could rely on consistently.

Those experiences sparked a deeper curiosity in me. I began to think about what my ideal hair product would feel like and how it should perform. I wanted products that I could use comfortably and consistently, formulas that provided the right level of slip to support detangling and reduce breakage during hair handling.

During this process, I also came to understand something important about hair growth and length retention. Hair grows naturally from the scalp, but if it breaks frequently along the strand, it becomes difficult to see that growth reflected in length. When breakage is reduced and the hair is handled gently, the hair is better able to retain the length it grows over time.

As I stayed consistent with better products, improved techniques, and patience with my hair’s natural growth cycle, I began to see steady progress. Every three to six months brought new length. Hair that had never grown past my neck slowly began to change. It moved from neck length to past neck length, and eventually reached waist length, something I had never imagined was possible.

That experience completely changed my understanding of hair care.

Seeing my own hair transform from damaged and stagnant to healthy and thriving made me realize that many women simply need the right knowledge, the right products, and patience with their hair’s natural growth process.

From the very beginning, building Ghee Collection has been a collaborative effort. My husband and I worked closely together to bring the brand to life. We carefully selected product containers, explored different shapes and colors, and chose details such as the bamboo covers that reflect the natural inspiration behind the brand. He also handled much of the importation process, while I focused on formulation and designing the look and feel of the brand to match my vision.

Together, we worked through many decisions, from product development to packaging and even the website itself. While he supported the technical side of building the website, I worked on the design and visual direction to ensure it reflected the brand’s identity.

From day one, Ghee Collection has been built through teamwork, dedication, and a shared vision. That is why we proudly stand as the faces behind Ghee Collection today.
